Astaxanthin - The Most Powerful Natural Antioxidant

Czech astaxanthin is derived from a fresh water algae called Haematococcus pluvialis. Astaxanthin also could be naturally found in other algae species, salmon, lobster, shrimp or flamingo’s feathers.

Sportsmen will love its impact on their performance and endurance.

Is astaxanthin suitable for children?

Czech legislation unfortunately forbids food supplements for children, only after a special approval. Astaxanthin food supplements thus have to state “not suitable for children” but there are other foods that naturally contain astaxanthin such as salmon, shrimp or lobster. Appropriate dosage is better to be discussed with your doctor. In some particular cases, astaxanthin can significantly help if dosed correctly.

There are many food supplements with astaxanthin on the internet within quite a wide price range. How should I choose the right one?

Price actually reflects the quality a lot. Astaxanthin market was unfortunately influenced by Chinese producers and synthetic astaxanthin usage. These two factors push astaxanthin price downwards and products of a high quality are not attractive to customers. Some of the cheap products contain just traces of astaxanthin, some even do not contain astaxanthin at all.

The top quality is the Czech astaxanthin by Algamo. You might see the eco-friendly high-tech production in many photos and videos on Algamo’s website – www.algamo.cz.

Be sure to check out the algae origin in every astaxanthin supplement. The producer will not try to hide this information if the source is of a high quality.

What is the difference between natural and synthetic astaxanthin?

The main difference is that natural astaxanthin naturally occurs in algae, synthetic astaxanthin is derived from petroleum derivates. Synthetic astaxanthin has neither ever been tested for safety in humans, nor have been proven same benefits as of the natural astaxanthin. However, Capelli et al. in their study Synthetic astaxanthin is significantly inferior to algal-based astaxanthin as an antioxidant and may not be suitable as a human nutraceutical supplement. Nutrafoods, Capelli, B., Bagchi, D., Cysewski, G.R., 12: 145. doi:10.1007/s13749-013-0051-5) published in 2013 say that natural astaxanthin is 20-50 times stronger than synthetic one.
